Who’s Charles?

I am! I’m half-French half-Canadian, grew up in Paris, and at the start of the pandemic, became a book reviewer almost by accident.

Initially, I was posting recommendations to a few hundred friends on Instagram. But when I got Covid in Singapore and was confined to a hospital room for 40 days, I started to discuss books more seriously on social media. Since then, this community has transformed into a passionate online network of literature lovers, all looking to diversify their reading lists.

Having explored the pages of the literary landscape, I’ve found that when it comes to reading there are no rules. So, consider this your alternative guide to a very wide world of literature. No hand-waving or hype – just me, Charles, a lifelong book lover, bringing you fresh ideas to diversify your reading list.

You can find Lit With Charles all over the internet. Follow me on Instagram at @LitWithCharles for daily bookish content – I post reviews and reading recommendations across an eclectic range of books, as well as snippets of author interviews, and a whole host of other things. I also have a weekly podcast, Lit With Charles, available on Spotify or wherever else you get your podcasts, in which I interview people who’ve either written books, or have interesting things to say about them.

Let’s get more people reading.

So, why should you subscribe?

To join the crew

You’ll get to be part of a community of people who share your interests – namely, books! It can be really hard in day-to-day life to connect with fellow readers, and people interested in getting into the nitty-gritty of plot twists, character development, and syntactical styles.

To reconnect with your reading

I’ve spoken to many people recently who have told me that, while they used to be prolific readers, little by little they’ve fallen off the bandwagon. A lot of us are finding it much harder to connect with literature the way we used to. For some people, it’s a new job, or kids, or simply not finding the right book that hooks them. Lit With Charles is devoted to tackling these issues – and many more – head on. There’s a lot of information out there to be shared. So, don’t worry, you’re in safe hands.
